What are they?

Dr Chandran is a Consultant in Acute Internal Medicine at Oldham Royal Hospital. He was the Divisional Clinical Director in Medicine for Oldham Care Organisation Northern Care Alliance, which is one of the largest group of hospitals and healthcare providers in the NHS. An appraisal and revalida

Dr Suresh Chandran FRCP (London) FRCPath (ME)

Dr Chandran is a Consultant in Acute Internal Medicine at Oldham Royal Hospital. He was the Divisional Clinical Director in Medicine for Oldham Care Organisation Northern Care Alliance, which is one of the largest group of hospitals and healthcare providers in the NHS. An appraisal and revalidation lead, specialist advisor for the CQC, Assessor for CERS applications for the GMC, he also holds the post of Lead Medical Examiner for the hospital. He was the Divisional Clinical Director in Medicine   for the Northwest deanery and also served in the consultant appointment advisory committee of the Royal College of Physicians and on the SCE examination board. His contributions to BIDA are manifold. He has served in the Executive Committee since 2019 and the ARM Chairman for BIDA since 2022. He has shown his expertise in organising both National and International Scientific Conferences.

Dr Naqvi has been a consultant physician in elderly medicine since 1984 at Chorley and South Ribble NHS Trust. Since retirement, he has continued to offer his services as a consultant and is presently working at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, Wigan. He has been an administrator, clinical tutor and educational supervisor and a mentor t

Dr Naqvi has been a consultant physician in elderly medicine since 1984 at Chorley and South Ribble NHS Trust. Since retirement, he has continued to offer his services as a consultant and is presently working at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, Wigan. He has been an administrator, clinical tutor and educational supervisor and a mentor to numerous juniors. He has been a researcher as well, with several publications and book chapters. He has helped to produce guidelines for the rehabilitation services especially the role of the day hospital and rehabilitation beds. He has worked with the elderly health visiting team to produce high quality, easily accessible services, which value its role in educating patients and carers. He has been a lifetime BIDA member and regularly attends all the BIDA educational activities and conferences.

Dr Gadiyar is a consultant anaesthetist and pain specialist, working for over 24 years at the Northern Care Alliance NHS Trust. He is the Trust Revalidation and Appraisal Lead. In the past, he has been a Foundation Programme Director and Royal College of Anaesthetists’ tutor.

Dr Gadiyar is a consultant anaesthetist and pain specialist, working for over 24 years at the Northern Care Alliance NHS Trust. He is the Trust Revalidation and Appraisal Lead. In the past, he has been a Foundation Programme Director and Royal College of Anaesthetists’ tutor. 

Dr Gadiyar is a current member of the BMA’s Consultant Committee and has acted as Chair of the BMA’S Bury Division since 2010. He is a trained mentor for consultants.

Vinod has been a very active member of BIDA for over 10 years. Having been a BIDA Executive Committee member from 2014-17, he has subsequently served as BIDA Hospital Doctors’ Forum Chair between 2017-2021, and is currently the BIDA National Treasurer. He has also been the Chair of BIDA’s Rochdale and Bury division since 2015. He has established and rejuvenated the division into one of the most productive in the country, and has organised various educational activities.

Dr Sanjeev did his initial training in Orthopaedics in India, gaining the D. Ortho (Gold Medal). He subsequently undertook further training in Orthopaedics in 1990 at Liverpool University for a master’s degree. He then decided on a career move to General Practice in 2001. After a year, he became Principal GP in that practice, and has rema

Sarjeev has held various posts including Executive Member of the Primary Care Trust and IQOF Accessor and Medicine Management Lead in his area for many years. He is also a GP Appraiser.

Dr Saxena is a life member of BIDA and has been in the post of Executive Committee Member for seven years. He supports and shadows his wife, Leena Saxena, who is Chair of the Wigan Division and plays an active role in all of BIDA’s activities.

He contributes to various charities in the UK and India.

Dr Anita Sharma is a GP with a special interest in gynaecology in Oldham. She is chair of the Women Doctors Forum of the British International Doctors Association, education lead for the FDA Northwest, and founder of the Endometriosis Awareness North Charity.

 Dr Upadhyay is an accredited menopause specialist and member of the medical advisory council of the British Menopause Society. She is an expert witness for the GMC and heavily involved in clinical governance and risk management at both local and national levels. She has always been actively engaged in delivering educational lectures and

Dr Upadhyay has been a member of BIDA since 2008 and was a member of the Journal Editorial Board with contributions in the form of articles, quiz, and peer review of submitted manuscripts. Dr Sharma is a highly respected physician who has made a vast contribution to education, management and is a trained mentor and coach. Dr Sharma is a highly respected physician who has made a vast contribution to education, management and is a trained mentor and coach. He has chaired the Senior Medical Staff Committee, the Medical Executive Committee, the Research and Ethics Committee at Rochdale, amongst other management roles. His contribution to education includes being on the STC in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine, Tutor for the Royal College of Physicians London, Post Graduate Tutor at Rochdale and an Examiner for MRCP PACES for RCP, UK. He is the current Programme Lead for M.MeD in Gastroenterology and a Senior Lecturer at Edge Hill University.

He has been a BIDA member since 1984 and has played vital roles in both the regional and national committees. He is currently President of the Bury and Rochdale Division. Dr Sharma remains a member of the Hospital Consultants and Specialist Committee of BIDA and serves as an assessor for CEA applications/nominations. His support to the ethnic doctors and trainees and colleagues of all backgrounds is well appreciated by one and all.

Mr Sinha has served the NHS for more than 30 years and has been involved in education, research, and training as well as the management of orthopaedic services. He has been the Past President of the Welsh Orthopaedic Society and the British Indian Orthopaedic Society UK, Chairman of the Welsh Orthopaedic Sub Advisory Committee, and an Ex-Officio Member of the British Orthopaedic Association.

He has been a long-standing member of BIDA and is currently the Media and Communication Lead, Editor of BIDA journal and Supervisor of the BIDA Student Wing.

He is credited with establishing the North Wales Division of BIDA. He has led the division and maintained his enthusiasm, with his leadership qualities and excellent communication. As a consultant he has supported numerous overseas doctors and given them jobs, clinical attachments, and career advice. He continues to attend the majority of educational meetings of the North Wales division, even after his retirement from his NHS services.

Professor Singh has been a major contributor to healthcare and medical regulation in the UK. He holds the Chair of the global Centre of Excellence in Safety for Older People and is the founder commissioner of the Healthcare Commission, and was a council member of the GMC. He is a member of the National Platinum Awards Committee and Medica

Professor Singh has been a major contributor to healthcare and medical regulation in the UK. He holds the Chair of the global Centre of Excellence in Safety for Older People and is the founder commissioner of the Healthcare Commission, and was a council member of the GMC. He is a member of the National Platinum Awards Committee and Medical Vice-Chair of the Advisory Committee for Clinical Health Awards Northwest and is also in the Health Honours Committee. Professor Singh is Chair of the GMC BME Doctors’ Forum and has contributed to BIDA over several years by promoting equality, diversity, and human rights within the NHS. As Chair of the Blackburn Division of BIDA, he led its revival, creating the foundations for a strong and effective division.

She has been responsible for provision of Primary Care Services in two new prisons in Liverpool and Manchester. Dr Rose has been on the Local Medical Committee since election in 2001. She is skilled in clinical commissioning and has taken on the responsibilities of medical management, as well as the more strategic governing body roles. She speaks passionately for overseas doctors, arguing the case for social wellbeing as well as fairness in the workplace in her role. As a member of BIDA she been meticulous in attending meetings and events and has an active participant at conferences.
